Something about myself.

So I figure because this blog is about my life as a music enthusiast you readers should learn some about myself as a musician. But firstly, an elaboration on this term "music enthusiast" which I have inexplicably adopted to describe myself:

Merriam-Webster.com defines the word 'enthusiast' as follows:

en·thu·si·ast

 noun \-ˌast, -əst\
: a person filled with enthusiasm: asa : one who is ardently attached to a cause, object, or pursuit <a sports car enthusiast>b : one who tends to become ardently absorbed in an interest
I'd have to say this is pretty accurate to the relationship I keep with music. I was going to elaborate, but I think for now, this will suffice.

I live through music. I play, I sing, I listen, I study, and I love every minute of it.

I'm currently in my third year of study at the University of Vermont, majoring in Music Education. I study classical saxophone under Steve Klimowski, and classical voice under Evelyn Kwanza.
I hope to teach instrumental music. I suppose high school, if I had to teach one age group all day every day, but I certainly wouldn't mind a 4 or 5 through 12 instrumental position either. And I absolutely love to sing and I love choral music, so it's not fair to say that's out of the picture either.

Let's try this, then.

Earlier today, I was talking to good friend of mine and she says to me "put something up on your blog so I can follow you!" (in not so many words.) Let me indulge on a quick digression to explain that sometime last week, I decided I might try Blogger as a platform for a photography website. After all, I already use other google mediums, why not try this? I hadn't quite found a platform I found that met my needs while still being semi-professional. Needless to say, I am still trying to figure out the ins and outs of Blogger, and decide whether or not this will be an appropriate platform for my photography.  Because of this, my friend, a budding Blogger, saw my newly created blog and immediately followed it, only to see one quite uninteresting post saying something along the lines of "trying this out as a new platform for my photography website, I hope I like it!"

All this background information also goes to support that fact that with blogging in general, I am indecisive when choosing a platform.  Earlier this academic year I had to create a professional music educator website for my music technology class. Platform I chose? Wordpress. I do enjoy Wordpress (gasp) for it's dashboard and professional look, pages options, and I'm sure many things I have yet to explore. That being said, I was the only one in my music technology class who chose Wordpress. (I guess I missed the memo that the professor would be using Blogger for purposes of the assignment, whoops) so my friends and I could follow each other on the same platform if I choose Blogger.

I suppose this post is a long-winded version of me saying "trying out a new blog site! We'll see if I like it!"

Disclaimer: I may end up writing with Wordpress, since my 'professional' music educator website is already with Wordpress. Who knows.
